Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced AWS Infrastructure Engineer responsible for making our app more scalable and reliable. We are currently running our services exclusively on AWS. Current efforts are into containerizing our application and migrating it to EKS. Our database is in RDS and we use a host of other services in our stack- Kafka, My SQL, MongoDB.

Our monitoring stack is based on Elastic-ELK. The dashboards need to be extended to view production and environmental health. Those metrics are also going to be used for service capacity planning.

Our deployment stack is based on Jenkins.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the current application infrastructure and suggest changes to it.
  • L1 Production support for issues related to high level application availability and features.
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Extend the monitoring stack.
  • Define service capacity planning strategies.
  • Write infrastructure as code using CloudFormation or similar.
  • Cost optimization of current resources or cloud infrastructure.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with the core AWS services, plus the specifics mentioned in this job description
  • Good background in Linux/Unix administration.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Having used ECR and EKS in the past is a plus.
  • Strong notions of security best practices (e.g. using IAM Roles, KMS, etc.)
  • Experience with monitoring solutions such as CloudWatch and ELK Stack.
  • Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems.
  • Good to have -Knowledge of writing infrastructure as code (IaC) using CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Experience with building or maintaining cloud-native applications.
  • Past experience with the serverless approaches using AWS-Lambda is a plus. For example, the Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or any
